C
razier things have happened.
BigYawn is back, bigger than ever,
for sure. Hopefully better too.
For awhile there, I really felt
like we may have been spinning
our tires, but it turns out we
really were making some cool changes
here, and its only going to get
better.
Some new things currently on the
site include the obvious, more
reviews. We plan on doing multiple
reviews each day if possible. We
also plan, starting next week,
on doing a local CD of the week.
We have no intention of forgetting
our DC faithful. Also, we are doing
some other things with our re-designed
front page. Notice the UK flavor
of the week, where we throw up
a new band the Brits are in love
with, that most folks have never
heard of. It makes for good humor
if nothing else. You gotta love
NME. Also on the front page, you
can take a look deep into the Yawn
and see what we're listening to
at the moment. Plus more news blurbs,
the single of the week, and of
course, random lyrics.
We are expanding other pages as
well, and adding more columns.
This particular one is going weekly,
but expect other monthly ones touching
on various issues, including movie
soundtracks, Baltimore and power
tools. Also, coming soon, our "Where
is the Music" page. I'm personally
very excited about this one, but
we're mum on the details for now.
Also, BigYawn is going to be a
bit more visible now that we are
officially residing in DC. Look
for monthly happy hours and other
get togethers. No sense in trying
to build a community if you can't
bring the folks together right?
We'll continue to promote shows
as well, including one at Art-O-Matic
and a wild Xmas party later this
year.
And if this isn't enough for you,
BigYawn is gonna overwhelm you
with information. Venues, release
dates, places to shop, and celebrity
play lists!? Well, let's try not
to get ahead of ourselves...
It's great to be back, and we hope
you're happy to have us back. We
plan on staying around for awhile.
Feel free to write any of our staff
of over 30 writers and contributors
and say hi. Look forward to being
back here next week. Until then,
ciao!
